We would like to thank everyone who auditioned, and were delighted to hear all of you sing. Unfortunately, we were not able to accomodate all of you wonderful people. To those who did not make the cut, we encourage you to return to audition again in the Fall, or if you want to continue singing this semester we invite you to join our friends at Voices of Imani.
The following is the list of our new members. Our first rehearsal is a full rehearsal on Tuesday, January 21 at 4:30 in Lyons 428, and we'd love to see you there!
The University Chorale of Boston College is a mixed choir consisting of approximately 160 members, is the university's second-largest organization and definitely one of the most prominent groups in the BC community. It is a fantastic opportunity for those with any interest in music to participate in a professional and visible performance group on campus.
While we are entirely student-run, we do sing under the direction of none other than Mr. John Finney, a distinguished director and musician known both in the Boston area and worldwide for his talent. Our repertoire is largely classical in nature but also includes a variety of more modern pieces, including selections from film soundtracks, American folk songs and, at Christmastime, a selection of traditional carols.
We have a number of performances over the course of the year, including the annual POPS On the Heights! concert during parents' weekend, a fall concert, Christmas concert series, winter, spring, and ArtsFest performances, and an annual spring break international tour. Yes, you read correctly--the University Chorale is the only organization on campus (besides service trips and athletics) that is permitted to travel internationally, and we take advantage of this unique opportunity to organize a grand tour full of performances, sightseeing, and a great deal of fun, too! This year we're excited to announce that we will be touring and performing in Madrid and Barcelona!
In addition to the spring break tour, there are many other events throughout the year that make the University Chorale a truly special experience. Examples include class dinners (designed to facilitate meeting other members of your class) and our end-of-the-year banquet, held off-campus in downtown Boston, in addition to other social events that build a strong diverse community of wonderful people with common interests.
Please feel free to browse our website and get in contact with any of our board members if you want more information!
